Well, you know what they say; Better late than never.
Will do a better write up of past events, things that are happening now, the future. But for now, just want to post these pics up before I forget.
So sometime around the start of this year, early January I think it was, I made a new friend called Snow. Every Tuesday night (I think), a group of people would get together for "English Corner". English corner was usually made up of the "Cornerstone" of the group, David Waldon (RIP, more about him later), Chinese David, Sunny, Ada, and whoever else was there at the time (including sometimes myself). A small group of foreigners and Chinese coming together to practice their English (well, not so much the foreigners practicing their English.. I think you can get the point). The English corner group would get together in the local 西餐 (western food) restaurant, Grandma's Kitchen (later evolving it's name into Grandma's Moon River... Yes, many questions were asked as to why it changed names, and why that name change of all names, but no one could ever answer why.). I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with that restaurant. Why? Well, loved it, because after living in a city scarce of what us western people take for granted i.e. cheese, bread, milk, cream, chocolate, cakes etc etc (well, some of these things you can buy, but they are rare, and their form has often been transformed into asian style!), you sometimes just need a good dose of gooey fattening cheese. For me, usually in the form of their "American burger" (as it was previously named on the menu). Why did I hate it? Because even though it is a "Western" restaurant, it's still very Asian! Like, there are some things they just don't get - like that when you serve the meals, you need to serve them at the same time so that one person hasn't finished their meal by the time their friend's meal finally arrives (I think that has something to do with the fact that the Chinese traditionally share every dish they eat, therefore don't think it ever came across as important in their training curriculum that when you eat "Western style" as it were, the dishes are traditionally one dish to one person, hence, try your best to serve the dishes at the same time as possible). Anyway, as much as I hated it at times, it was still pretty much the best place in town for when you had those junky cravings (their milkshakes, which were more like thickshakes, were actually to do for!! Well, don't know if they were, could also be that case of when you don't get to have something often, when you do have it, it tastes even more divine).
So, it was sometime in January, as I was saying, that at one of the English Corner meets I met Snow. She was a mutual friend of another girl, Christina (the pretty pilot, who am in a photo with in previous blog) who had been to the Corner a couple of times before and had suggested Snow go, as a means of learning English.
When I first saw Snow, honestly I thought to myself, 'am not going to get along with this girl'! Why did I immediately think that? I don't know, I think it was her style (she had quite an individual fashion sense) and she seemed immediately quite loud and outspoken. But, as usual when I come across these kind of people, I end up later getting along really well with them! By the end of the night we'd already bonded, swapped numbers and all that.
Snow's boyfriend at the time, was a hairdresser, so she arranged for me to get a nice 洗头发 (which directly translates to hair wash), and further cutting of my already hacked off hair - more about that later. After that I suggested we go to a snack place (which I already forget the name of.. argh) nearby to 吃东西 (eat things!). We bonded even more over a dish of crispy fried chicken skin (sounds not very appealing, but actually has this disgusting deliciousness about it) with crispy thin potato slices, and our mutual discovery of finding that we are both "chi huo's" (some word for meaning someone who really likes to eat).
I even celebrated the final day of the Chinese new year with her family.
So, where is this leading me? It's leading me to Snow asking me to model for their business! Of course I said yes, although, I do remember at the time being slightly stressed, due to the fact I'd put on some weight in the previous couple of months. "Don't worry, we can photoshop it all out", she said! Well, that's the other thing about these wedding photography pics they do here - every couple really does look stunning in the pics, why? They don't mind to go heavy handed with photoshop!
Anyway, pictures!:
Snow, 我想你。
